He took a good shot for real, and in the process he took his own self portraits and then had me make these great poses. He is an artist to the end.

HH the 14th Dalai Lama Visits Smith College

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama visited Smith College today. Only Smith College and Hampshire College faculty and staff and members of the local Tibetan community could actually see his talk in person, but the kids and Kim watched him at home on the local PBS station and I watched him (as much as I could) online at work.

Gaelan and Lucas and I made terrible, horrible snow monsters in the back yard. It was warm and the snow was soggy and sticky so it made great huge snowballs which we arranged to make snow monsters. So this is how we get out of the February funk....a huge Valentines celebration complete with coco hazelnut spread, organic jam, and yummy scones. Flowers are not optional!! In addition it is a papa stay home day since we have our first blizzard..so lots of eating and lots of snuggling for this day.

It was bound to happen. Kim knitted obsesively while he was in the belly, so he came out and grabbed a set of needles first chance he could. He made the sweater he's wearing and is now working on socks for the dog.

A Snowy Day

We actually had snow, believe it or not. Friday night, the 2nd of February, it snowed. All of 2-3 inches, but, beggars can't be choosers. And as a matter of fact, even if you get a lot of snow, you actually can't choose that either. I was out with Gaelan and got this portrait of our neighbor Dundee. I got quite a few pictures of Gaelan too, he was hiding behind his sled but I kept putting the camera underneath it. He was laughing at the time, but when he saw them later was appalled that I had taken them against his will. So I deleted them, but you can still see the snow.

I also jumped on our tree swing, sitting down, and the branch it was on gave out and I fell down. Gaelan and I both laughed about this, but it ended my sledding for the day as my tookus couldn't take the jostling going down the hill. I took some arnica homeopathic instead.

Dundee Wants A Snack

Our neighbors behind us own two horses. This one is named Dundee, and he has escaped many a time (it is pretty funny to be sitting eating breakfast and see a horse head go by the window.) Anyway, the other day I noticed he had wanted some of the branches off of the tree (above his head in the picture) that he pushed the electric fence out of wack. Here he goes on to eat the grass too.
